Lincoln Library

 Lincoln, NH

The library has a grand entrance and front room. On display there is constant streaming of a red-tailed hawk’s nest on Cornell campus. The patrons are waiting, watching and guessing when the first hatchlings will arrive. The origin of the library was in 1902 from a generous donation of land and building from Mr. and Mrs. Henry. It has gone through several expansions. Ongoing artwork is present on the walls that may be purchased. Had an interesting discussion with the librarian, Carol Riley, about the past, present and future of this library. I hope the next expansion goes smoothly. https://www.lincoln.lib.nh.us/

Bethlehem Library

Bethlehem, NH

Driving through New Hampshire I expected another century old library with great history in Bethlehem. I was surprised to come across a 10 year old building. It had its own great charm. A fun children’s area started with passing under trees. A local artist added a mural with characters from children’s books. The library has used the outdoor space for a book walk through the woods. I can see children enjoying this more than listening to a book being read to them inside.

Little Village Toy and Book Shop

 Littleton, NH

A combination book and toy store is a great place to stop in. A great variety of both. Even free gift wrapping, bonus! This store has crafts, story times, and many book related items. Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻.

Beartown

 Book Review

Fredrik Backman
5*/5

The book centers around the hockey team. They’re so good that they are treated like football players in Texas. They can do no wrong. But… they can and do. The town and all of its residents are part of the story. Looked up the movie because I enjoyed the book so much but we are talking subtitles. I read the sequel Us Against You. It was good but not the same caliber.

Wolfeboro Library

 Wolfeboro NH

Beautifully renovated library completed in 2020. The original building was completed in 1979. The library had previously been located in the town hall. The brightness from the many windows is what you will notice first. Many great spaces to read or meet are everywhere. From the entrance hall you can sit, read and look at school children’s art. Inside there are traditional chairs to a great camping site for the kids. There is also many displays of suggested reads. Always helpful if you’re looking for something new and interesting. https://www.wolfeborolibrary.org/

The Country Bookseller

A charming independent bookstore is worth a visit if you are anywhere near Wolfeboro, NH. It has mostly new but also a small section of used books and books on sale. It has a cute nook for the kids https://www.thecountrybookseller.com/

Samuel Wentworth Library

 Located in Sandwich, NH

The original building is an architectural beauty. It has been referred to as “Tudor revival”. There was an addition to the back built in 1972 which was needed for space but just functional in style. The building is now a historic landmark. It was originally built in 1912 from a donation from its namesake. The stipulation that it be built to be fireproof. They succeeded by building it alone on a hill. It was not scathed by the Great Fire of 1934.

Memoirs of Celebrities

I feel like I can learn something from reading nonfiction. Do memoirs count? I’m thinking some do but some are just pure entertainment. Rig...
